How to Use the Pipeline Feature (Opportunities)
First of all, what are we talking about? The tab on your dashboard labeled Opportunities.
An opportunity is a contact in one of your pipelines.
A pipeline is a visual tool that helps you track where your contacts are in your sales or investor journey. Think of it like a series of steps—each stage represents a part of the process, like “New Prospect,” “Book a Call,” or “Won - Show Deals.” As people move forward, you drag and drop them to the next stage so you always know who needs follow-up and what’s next (or they are moved to a specific stage automatically through an automated workflow).
If you’re on the Pro or Influencer plan, you already have three pipelines created in your account: one for potential investors, one for showing deals, and one for properties. If you want to create a new pipeline, follow the steps below; if you want to learn how to manage your existing pipelines, skip to the next section of this lesson.
Create a New Pipeline
From your account dashboard, click on Opportunities > Pipelines > + Create new pipeline
Give your pipeline a name, add the stages you want to be included, and hit save
You can always edit an existing pipeline by clicking on Opportunities > Pipelines and clicking the pencil next to the pipeline you want to edit (or click the trash can to delete the pipeline)
Manage an existing pipeline
From your dashboard menu, click on Opportunities
Use the dropdown in the top left to switch between pipelines
Use the scroll bar at the bottom to scroll between stages (more info on that further down)
Each contact in the pipeline is called an opportunity. You can use the blue button in the top right to add a new opportunity manually or import a list of contacts to add as opportunities
Opportunities show up as cards below the stage they are currently in. You can use automations to move an opportunity to a different stage, or drag and drop the card to move it manually. You can also drag and drop them into a different status while keeping them in the same stage. (As a default, you will only see opportunities with an open status on your screen. To adjust that, click on Advanced Filters)
What is a Stage? Stages are the big milestones or steps in your client’s investor journey. For example, are they a new lead? Have they booked a call? Have they committed to a deal and wired funds? Each stage represents where someone is in the relationship-building process with you.
What is a Status? The status tells you what’s happening with a lead within a stage. For example:
Open status: You’re still working the lead.
Won status: They’ve invested.
Lost status: They opted out or didn’t qualify.
Abandoned status: They ghosted you, or you’re no longer pursuing them.
You can use the little icons at the bottom of a card for quick actions on the opportunity: view conversations, add tags, add note, add task, and add an appointment
Click on the card to view, and edit the full opportunity information, such as name, email, status, pipeline stage, etc. You can also view the contacts appointments, notes, tasks, etc, and you can use the little red trash can at the bottom to delete the opportunity from the pipeline (**note: deleting the opportunity only deletes them from that pipeline, it doesn’t delete them from your contacts)
